How to use DVD shrink?

DVD Shrink can be termed a DVD burning application that we use to copy movies and it comes for free. This software program is used almost exclusively for this purpose. There are certain reasons for which we require DVD shrink. Not all the regular DVD movies fit into the usual 4.7 GB disc. We therefore should know how to use DVD shrink. The DVD shrink is used to reduce the size of the contents so that they fit into the disk.

Once you have installed the DVD shrink software, you will realize that you need certain things like the DVD burner, DVD shrink programs, DVD movie backup, and a blank DVD. There is also the need for DVD burning program Nero. If you want to learn how to use DVD shrink, you will have to follow some steps. So, the first step in the method of how to use DVD shrink is to procure all these associate things.

We need to know how to use DVD shrink. The first step is to start DVD Shrink and select the 'Open Disc' option. You will now see a box and you have to choose the DVD drive with your disk as the second step. DVD name will appear in brackets. The third step is to press the OK. The DVD will be read and in the right hand column the movie breakdown list will be shown.

Since all the data on the DVD cannot fit into your blank DVD, you have to press Re-author option in the top menu. You will see an option 'main movie' in the right hand column. Then you drag the file under this option to the left column. The size of the file is normally more than 4700 MB and needs compression. These are some of the basic methods of how to use DVD shrink.

The DVD Shrink software will compress the movie and copy it in the new DVD. The copy will be free of all the unnecessary details crammed in the original DVD, such as sub titles in many languages and footnotes etc. You will have to select Back up option in top menu.

If Nero is installed, then Shrink DVD will burn the movie to any blank DVD. This is how you use DVD shrink. The software will prompt you to replace the actual DBD disk and replace it with blank DVD. When the Nero is not installed, Shrink DVD will make an image file for the DVD so that you can burn it later. The next step is to choose a target for backup. If the Nero is installed, the burner can be the target for selection. If the computer does not has Nero installed, you can select any file location. As OK is pressed, the process starts.

To ensure better quality of DVDs, you can click the option 'perform deep analysis' in the 'quality settings tab'. Once you click this, it ensures better quality of DVDs. If the DVD to copy contains data below 4.7 GB, there is no need for the DVD Shrink. The trick is in knowing how to use DVD shrink. Once you know how to use this program, you can make copies of even those DVDs, which are larger than the 4.7 GB limit.
