Prepaid Cellular Phone Plan: It's Pros and Cons

By Alice Sy

A prepaid cellular phone plan is similar to other kinds of phone plans available in the market. The main difference is the manner of paying the bills. In a post paid plan, you can use the phone service before you pay for your consumption. In a prepaid plan, on the other hand, you get to pay ahead and then use the phone service.

The reason why users buy a prepaid cellular phone plan is to save money and limit their credit. It also offers no hassle and little commitment to the buyer. On the other hand, if you take advantage of the traditional plan, you are bound to the plan carrier for a year or so since you are going to sign a contract. If you fail to meet the terms of the contract or break it, you have to pay for the penalty.

Another advantage of availing prepaid cellular phone plan is that you don't have to fall for a debt. In other cases, you don't even need a credit card to use its services. Virgin Mobile Phone, for example, offers prepaid phone cards in their Virgin Megastores. So, all you have to do is get if off the rack, give your cash to the cashier, and in minutes, enjoy making calls.

How to use a prepaid cellular phone plan? It's simple. All you have to do is buy a cell phone. Then, set your prepaid plan and the amount of service you wish to enjoy. For some plans, you pay for the number of minutes you want to use up - say between 30 to 1000 minutes.

A prepaid cellular phone plan doesn't let you fall into a debt. The consumer is forced to pay ahead before availing phone services. There are phone service companies which sell convenient prepaid cards to numerous outlets. These outlets can easily be reached by consumers, such as malls and convenient stores.

Prepaid cellular phone plan cards are available in the internet. You can purchase services at a carrier's website. You can also buy them at carrier stores. You can have them in monthly rates, also called autoplay. Here, your credit card is immediately charged a certain amount every month. Whenever you call, the per-minute charge is immediately deducted to the amount charged on your account until there will be no more service.

Prepaid cards can be purchased in various places offline. They can also be bought online in carrier websites and carrier stores. Prepaid cards have expiration dates when you load them into your phone. You have a number of days or weeks to use the load depending on the amount of the prepaid card you purchased.

Plus, prepaid cellular phone plans have expiration date. For example, if you haven't consumed the entire service in 30 days, the carrier will eat it up after the due date. So, it is wiser to think and weigh matters first before choosing the best cellular phone plan you want to use.

Take Care of Your Nokia Cellular Phone Battery the Right Way

By Alice Sy

Your Nokia cell phone, no matter how advanced its model is, cannot function without a fully charged Nokia cellular phone battery. It is important that you buy only original batteries, and if possible from the manufacturer itself of your cellular phone. Original cellular phone batteries are more durable, longer-lasting, and are not prone to explosion incidents.

Taking care of your Nokia cellular phone battery is not entirely difficult. The first important thing that must be done is to read the phone manual of your Nokia phone. The phone manual typically shows a user guide in the correct maintenance of your cell phone and its battery. Read the manual in its entirety and try to remember the important things on battery concerns.

About a maximum of five hours talk time can be had with a fully charged Nokia cellular phone battery, before it needs to be recharged again. It is important for you to buy the correct battery for every particular Nokia phone model. If you buy the incorrect one, you'll be incurring unnecessary expense and worse, your phone won't function at all.

Extending the battery life of your Nokia cellular phone battery will involve a few cell phone use adjustments. If possible, lower the ring volume of your phone and avoid using the vibration mode. If you are using your phone often you will have noticed that increased volume and vibration mode will cause your battery to be charged more frequently.

A Nokia cellular phone battery comes in different sizes, depending upon the cell phone unit you choose. The batteries are not heavy compared to secondary batteries. The energy is kept through lithium ions that move around.

However there are a lot of drawbacks from fake cell phone batteries. These batteries are manufactured in poor conditions and quality that they are more susceptible to overheating and explosions.

Unlike original batteries that were manufactured with built-in heat detectors so as to alert the user when the battery has finished charging at the right level, imitation batteries are not equipped with these important heat detectors. When overcharged to a certain extent and the internal components of the phone is overheated, this could pose serious safety problems.

Having a Nokia cell phone is both functional and fun; however there must be sufficient understanding as to how it works, along with its battery. Buy only quality and genuine Nokia cellular phone battery to be assured of the best and safest.

Dumbo, Disney's 4th Animated Feature

By Steve Collins

In 1941, Walt Disney distributed his fourth animated feature, Dumbo. Based on the children's book of the same name, written by Helen Aberson and drawn by Harold Perl, Dumbo follows the adventures of Jumbo, Jr., a baby elephant. Because of his unnaturally large ears, which give him the power to fly, Jumbo, Jr. is nicknamed "Dumbo." His only friend, other than his mother, is Timothy the mouse.

When Disney submitted his first cut of Dumbo to RKO, their distributor at the time, the studio was alarmed to find the running time was only 64 minutes. George J. Schaefer, the president of RKO, requested Disney either edit the feature down to a short film or beef it up to 70 minutes. Disney refused, and insisted Dumbo be released as an A picture, in the maximum number of theaters nation-wide. Schaefer reluctantly agreed.

It cost Disney only $813,000 to finish Dumbo, which was approximately half the cost of Snow White and a third of the cost of Pinocchio. Along with Snow White, it would be one of the only two feature to turn a profit for Disney during the 1940s. Its original release, in 1941, went on to gross $1.3 million - a monumental success at the time. Indeed, according to Wikipedia, Dumbo was scheduled to grace the December cover of Time magazine, only to be dropped at the last minute to cover the December 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor. Indeed, the Second World War would nearly break Disney's young studio as they were quickly recruited by the United States government to create a number of training and propaganda cartoons for the Armed Forces.

Dumbo garnered the nomination for and subsequently won the 1941 Academy Awards for Original Music Score. It was also nominated for Best Song for Frank Churchill and Ned Washington's "Baby Mine" and won the 1947 Cannes Film Festival award for Best Animation Design. The popularity of the film was capitalized on again during the 1949 re-release, making a tremendous profit for both RKO and Disney.

Dumbo was one of the first features to be aired on television as part of Disney's anthology series, cementing its popularity for an entire new generation of American viewers. In 1981, it was the first Disney film to be released on VHS. In 2006, the 60th Anniversary Special Edition was released to wide acclaim, while a special edition "Big Top Edition" was released on DVD.

Custom-Made TV Stand: A Great (And Easy) Idea

By Peter Mason

Remodelling - TV Stand Design Ideas

When thoughts turn to remodelling, it isn't often that the list of priorities contains a new TV stand. But adding a nice piece of furniture to the home while providing a sturdy stand for one of the new, larger television sets can be a great idea. Some of the new high-definition televisions are large enough to require a solid stand and there are some great alternatives to spending a lot on a stand from a retail site.

There are steel kits available that will only cost about $100. The stands from these kits are very strong and are available in sizes to fit most televisions. Those who are handy with a couple of small tools can assemble a stand from the kit in very little time. After recently installing a new shower curtain, putting together one of these kits was easy! Stands made from the better kits generally hold a DVD player, the television and perhaps a cable box comfortably (though, with newer TVs, it may not be necessary to have a cable box).

Most of the quality stands will hold a large television, even providing a nice-look in the living room or den. Some have glass shelves, providing an even more modern look. Shelves for the television itself should probably be made of Plexiglas or similar material because this will be much safer than glass for such a large object.

Some homeowners may choose to build their own television stand, using wood. Numerous plans and patterns are available from Web sites. Many are free of charge. For example, two cedar pieces 3 feet by 2 feet and one inch thick should work just fine. This particular plan uses cedar because of its natural beauty (it won't need to be stained). Cedar can be finished with a semi-transparent stain, if desired.

While it would be best to obtain a complete pattern with written instructions, the general idea is to cut a curved pattern from the cedar pieces and sand the edges so they are very smooth. The plan also calls for cutting shelf grooves one-half inch deep with a router or by hand. Shelves of the desired material can be purchased from a home supply store or similar source. These can also be held in place with L-shaped shelf supports. Holes can be drilled in the two main side pieces in order to put shelf dowel pins through. Sets of holes can be drilled at various heights to allow for flexibility in placing shelves as needs change.

Wires from the television and other equipment can be hidden by running them along the shelves and down one of the side pieces behind a wood strip or a narrow strip of some appropriate material. Wires can also be secured against wood with a U-shaped tack. The strips and tacks can keep the clean appearance of a well-made television stand. Of course, there are plenty of options for purchasing a stand already assembled or in a kit that requires a bit of assembly. These can fit the room size and dcor. Building a one-of-a-kind stand will not only be a great addition to the home but may also provide some personal satisfaction.

Legal Movies Download: Are Your Membership Downloads Legal?

By Marc Sandford

Never before has entertainment been so widely available to so many people. The adoption of high speed Internet access in greater numbers of homes as well as the Internet's rapid emergence is responsible for this. With this abundance come issues that concern safety and ethics.

For many, ethics and concern for safety are the reasons why they seek out legal movie downloads. Even though your intentions might be in the right place, you may still be making illegal downloads of movies by accident. So there is the possibility of accidental exposure to viruses and spy ware with these downloads.

It isn't enough to stay away from amateurish and spammy download sites. It's possible that you're getting movies illegally even though you're using a legitimate download membership at a professionally deigned web site. It can still happen even if the business owner has honest intentions and you have paid a membership fee.

So how does this come about? If the membership site asks for modest a fee of about $25 in exchange for access to a ridiculous quantity of movies (millions), then he's probably setting you up with the means for downloading and accessing movies off a peer to peer (p2p) file sharing network. Because the number of downloads to be had from p2p is enormous, he really is telling the truth and you are getting value for your money if you previously lacked the means and knowledge to use p2p networks.

Once you become proficient at using p2p networks, the dangers begin. A naive user of p2p is vulnerable to all of its associated dangers and may start to notice peculiar things: an odd looking bank balance due to spy ware or odd computer behavior due to a virus. You'll be happily downloading lots of movies illegally in complete ignorance because you've paid your fee to a legitimate membership.

Don't expect to get 100 percent protection from all of the viruses in p2p networks with your anti-virus program. Your computer is only protected against the specific viruses and spy ware that the anti-virus software was programmed to recognize. Your anti-virus program will not protect your computer from new, obscure, or modified viruses.

A good rule of thumb for determining if a movie is legal for download is that if it is older than 4 or 5 decades, it is probably in the public domain without a copyright. If you find a free movie on a p2p network that is a recent Hollywood blockbuster, then it is illegal to download. Locating the odd movie that is the exception to this rule will demand a lot of research on your part.

So getting safe and legal movie downloads from a p2p network is not as simple as turning on a TV set. If you're worried about threats to your computer and your personal information, then you aren't enjoying yourself. If you are researching movie copyrights, you're doing work rather than relaxing.

Perhaps it's worth your while finding a well established movie download site that guarantees the legality and safety of all of their downloads and doesn't fix you up with p2p downloading. No guarantees about safety or legality can be made by a movie download membership that sets you up with p2p. You are on your own if you're using p2p networks.

Video Conference Calls: Equipment & Software Requirements

By Jody Cafaro

An alternative to business travel is the video conference call. They are flexible and less expensive than business travel and help to lower costs and meet budget. Advanced technology has also introduced multi-user conference calls to the range of conference call services.

In order to get a good resolution during a video conference call and convey the information to the participants, the quality of the equipment used is important. When a video conference call is placed, a camera, PC system, audio controls and software are all interconnected. Information is then shown on the monitors that are connected to the PC system.

Both Windows and Macintosh operating systems include videoconferencing programs. Windows users can make use of NetMeeting to make video conferencing calls while Macintosh users have iChat AV. There are also several free software packages that are compatible with Windows and Macintosh and are available for download on the Internet.

There are conference call utilities which combine audio, visual and network systems into one device, thus making the conference call process more efficient. Usually individuals purchase portable devices while the larger, less portable systems are required for bigger companies. Some of the larger companies may decide to designate an individual room solely for video conferencing.

From the simple web-cam to a video conference call service that costs anywhere from fifteen thousand dollars, there are many different options available to the consumer and that will meet everyone's individual needs.

Dedicated desktop-based hardware is popular amongst individuals and the price range is between six hundred to three thousand dollars. There are also software-based headsets which are usually priced at a hundred dollars each, and they are great for personalized calls and are also known to reduce echoes when on a conference call.

Conferences that involve small numbers of participants usually consist of a PC-based system, which can cost between six to fourteen thousand dollars. Alternative systems that run over IP or ISDN are also simple to set up and use and cost between three to twelve thousand dollars.

Equipment needed for conference calls is expensive, anywhere up to ten thousand dollars but are required for large meeting groups. Multi-directional microphones are mostly required for conferences including video seminars or classes. The directional microphones are in key locations within a room with high-resolution cameras. The cost for a reliable microphone system can be as high as eight thousand dollars and the camera up to two hundred.

Purchasing conference call equipment and software is a major investment so check for reliability, ease of use, connectivity and compatibility. Ensure that updates and maintenance services can be easily obtained at any time.

What Makes Up the Best GPS?

By Kaye Fretz

How can you tell if your device is the best gps? Nearly every other driver or traveler would want only the best. Then again, what is the best for one may not be the best for the rest. If you want to have a great gps device, you should base your decision on your particular situation.

Compare Units

The only way to find the best is to know what is out there. You can easily do this by searching for a gps system in a search engine. You are bound to get numerous pages filled with pages of gps models. Simply open several pages and compare various models.

You would be surprised at the wealth of options and the growth of technology since gps was introduced. These days you can get systems that have such features as touch screen, portability, long life batteries, voice navigation, DVD player, MP3 player, waterproof body, site locator, traffic monitors and many more. It seems manufacturers are coming up with more and more features every other month. Knowing the different options that you have can help you choose the appropriate gps.

Look for What You Need

It may be tempting to buy the gps unit with the works. The best unit however is not always the most expensive one. Remember that your primary purpose in looking for a gps is to get navigation assistance. This is therefore the first feature you should look into. If navigation is all you need and all you can afford, you can get a good gps system for as low as $200. If you can afford to pay higher to answer your growing needs, you can higher gps models that can cost around $400-$700.

Find Out What You Want

You can afford to be choosier if you do not have a budget to keep. If you can afford expensive devices, then the best gps for you might be the one that carries every feature you can ever imagine. Those who have a little extra to spare would typically opt for units that have entertainment features.

Ease of Use

Different units have different functions. Although people may debate over gps models based on their features, most people agree that the best units are the easiest to use. Whether you have the cheapest or most expensive model, it should be user friendly. This is especially important for majority of consumers who are not technology experts.

Ease of use can partly be determined by your circumstances. If you have a hard time reading and understanding technology then a hand held unit may not be for you. You may have to go for a wide touch screen unit with voice instructions.

Ask Others

You can also just ask what others think about some models you like. You can find consumer opinions in reviews, forums and blogs. Before taking anyone's word on a particular unit, take time to confirm opinions or pieces of advice by doing your own research.

Ultimately though, the choice of the best gps really depends on you. What you want or need may not be the same as others.

How a GPS Device Stops Crime

By Fabian Toulouse

For the curious, a GPS device uses the Global Positioning System to track the whereabouts of any object to which it is attached. The technology is not that recent; a variation of the system has been used since the early 1980s, however state of the art GPS devices and the internet allow for real time and tracking and the collection of a host of useful data.

On a personal level, GPS devices on cars are a wise tool to have, and insurance companies in some states are legally bound to offer discounts on cars and trucks with GPS devices, as they are powerful anti-theft weapons. Also, cautious parents of new drivers like to know their children's whereabouts. The devices not only track location, but they can be set to warn parents if the vehicle exceeds a safe speed limit or goes outside of a preset boundary!

For many of the same reasons, a GPS device is a great thing to have on a fleet vehicle. It saves gasoline and overtime wages, increases safety, and stops unauthorized use of fleet vehicles for personal use on nights and weekends. In addition, the data recorded is invaluable in handling billing questions!

The police have found GPS tracking handy, too. Courts have ruled in favor of police in cases where the legality of surreptitious tracking is employed. Defendants stress that the devices violate 4th amendments rights prohibiting unlawful search and seizure. Judges have responded that the devices in no way "seize" the vehicles on which they are attached. Police do not need a search warrant to follow the activities of someone suspected of unlawful behavior. According to the courts, the use of a GPS on the "public" parts of a suspect's vehicle is the equivalent of tracking a suspect the old-fashioned way.

GPS tracking is a cool tool with dozens of applications. Whether you are a business owner trying to cut down on overtime and vehicle abuse, a parent worried about a teenage driver, or a policeman wanting to catch a criminal, GPS can help.

Live Sports On Computer

By Jed Elaine

In its early years, television relied on sports to grow. TV manufacturers broadcast sports programs to boost viewer ship so that they could sell more sets. Things have changed and today, we make additional payment over subscription fees in order to watch sports on TV. We should not. Satellite and cable companies have the habit of imposing pay-per-view on popular sports events, be it boxing, football, tennis or other sports. Computer makers should pull the same trick like TV before and telecast those sports programs free so there's win-win once again. We can then write off those cable and satellite TV providers.

Actually, something to that effect has already long been done. It's Free To Air Internet TV, where satellite TV is streamed directly to our computers over the internet. FTA internet TV is not brought forth by the computer manufacturers though and operates on the aged-old basis of advertisement and sponsorship support and subsidy. Most of these broadcasters, if not all, have their own targeted agenda. Whatever that may be, we get our sports free in return for watching their bundle, similarly an aged-old and fair deal.

There's another type of internet TV providers. They charge a fee for their service although the majority of what they stream is FTA sourced. Their value-add is in assembling ready-made internet TV which would otherwise be time-consuming and onerous for the individual viewers to go it themselves. Thousands of channels from all over the world comprising across the board genres and not just sports are standard features. While a fee is involved, it's one-time for a lifetime.

Another thing about sports on computer is its mobility. With WiFi internet zones getting commonplace nowadays, you can watch that big game live in trains, coffee houses, restaurants or wherever while on travel, at work or whatever you're engaged in.

Although the world is flat now as coined by author-journalist Thomas Friedman, time zones will never be. Game time at playing venue may be office, school or bedtime for the viewer so the computer, especially if it's a laptop, will go more handily to where the conventional TV set would find too bothersome or conspicuous to.

Bambi, Disney's 1942 Classic

By Steve Collins

In 1942, Walt Disney released his fifth animated film, Bambi. It was based on the Austrian story Bambi, A Life In The Woods, by Felix Salten. Published in 1923, the book followed the adventures of a male roe deer from birth to maturity. The book was well received both in Europe and the United States. Salten, whose real name was Siegmund Salzmann, was Hungarian by birth but spent most of his life in Vienna. The popularity of the book inspired Salten to write a sequel entitled Bambi's Children.

The plot of Bambi, the animated movie, follows the adventures the title deer, who is the Prince of the Forest, and his companions Thumper, a rabbit; Flower, a skunk; and Faline, a white-tailed fawn who becomes his mate. While Bambi was initially written as a roe deer, Disney took the liberty to make him a white-tailed deer as roe do not inhabit the United States.

In his signature effort to convey realistic details, Disney sent his team of animators to lectures at the Los Angeles Zoo and even went so far as to have a pair of fawns flown in from Baxter State Park in Maine. This allowed the animators to observe, first-hand, the movements of the white-tailed deer. This was a key factor in deciding to make the animated Bambi a white-tailed deer, and not the roe deer of Salten's book. Maurice Day, of one the best known of Disney's animators, was sent to Vermont and Maine to photograph and sketch the eastern forests. His research material was used by Tyrus Wong, a former painter whose Eastern painterly influence added a new dimension of emotion to the lush backgrounds.

Bambi was released by RKO in August of 1942, as World War II was raging. Although it did relatively well at the box office, it was still considered a failure by Disney at it barely covered the costs of production. It was in subsequent re-releases, in 1947, 1957, 1966, 1975, 1982, and 1988 that Bambi actually returned a tremendous profit. Indeed, it has been one of the most popular VHS and DVD movies the studio has ever issued. The Bambi Masterpiece release was the first Disney release to be THX certified.

The film was honored with three Academy Award nominations for Best Sound, Best Song ("Love Is A Song"), and Original Music Score. Fans and critics both hailed the animation, which showed a maturity and solidification of the Disney "style." Disney would not endeavor to make another animated feature until well after the war with Cinderella in 1950.

A Full Review And Commentary Of The LG KF510

By Chris Channing

Style is quite an important feature among today's mobile phones- and the LG KF510 doesn't fall short in pleasing in this category. But not everything in mobile phones must revolve around style- how it works should be the biggest factor in a purchase decision. So does the LG KF510 stack up to the prestige it gets from its style?

It's hard to disregard the sense of style the LG KF510 has when reviewing it. It has a very trendy metal finish that is hard to discount. The 2.2 inch display is also quite large in terms of today's mobile phone displays. The LG KF510 is also very slim in size, and even sports a touch screen for on the go lifestyles. Overall, the design department did a good job in developing the LG KF510.

The LG KF510 can in many senses be called a mobile entertainment center. The LG KF510 gives users easy access to the Internet through a mobile web browser. For those who can't get enough of their local music and talk shows, an FM radio is included in the package. Other options for videos, pictures, and programs also add to the entertainment value.

When it comes to networking a mobile phone, there aren't usually a lot of options with today's current brands of phones. But the LG KF510 offers USB 2.0 support that allows it to be connected easily to other devices to transfer files and information effortlessly. For a wire free environment, Bluetooth is supported- which allows mobile phone users to share information without a single wire.

Photography has become very popular among mobile phones. It's hard to find a mobile phone that doesn't have a camera attached. The LG KF510 follows suit by offering a very clear 3.0 megapixel camera that takes very crisp pictures. Included with the camera is an autofocus feature, which allows better shots to be taken on account of the lack of blur that is otherwise present in many mobile phone pictures.

Like many mobile phones with touch screen capability, the LG KF510 only works best indoors. When exposed to direct sunlight, mobile phone users will have a very tough time in trying to read anything on the screen. This detracts from having a mobile phone in the first place, if it can't be taken outdoors with ease. This isn't a big drawback, but it certainly can be annoying.

The 3G revolution has skipped the LG KF510. 3G access gives mobile phone users high transmission speeds and extra options for multimedia applications. While this is a disappointment, it isn't necessarily a reason to not by the mobile phone- especially if you aren't too keen on obtaining extra features you may not need.

Closing Comments

Although the LG KF510 doesn't have perfect scores in every department, it is still a wonderful mobile phone to have. It can keep up with most of the current technologies, has a great style, and is generally cheaper than many other new mobile phones. Certainly, it should be kept in mind when looking to purchase a new mobile phone.

Legal Movie Download: The Hazards of Downloading Online Movies

By Marc Sandford

So you want to use the Internet to get some freebie Hollywood blockbusters? Perhaps you are doing some research because your friends are doing it. Or perhaps you've developed an addiction to the free stuff already and have downloaded a few. You may want to pause and think about it some, regardless of whether you've downloaded a few or not. A good deal of what gets on the web today was uploaded illegally and is breaching copyright law. In theory, a person is breaking the law and can be prosecuted when downloading or viewing this material.

Law enforcement as well as organizations such as the MPAA are fighting the increase in illegal downloads with great vigor. Those who download proprietary movies are exposing themselves to the possibility of legal prosecution. Though this can easily change with time, the odds of not getting caught are still in your favor.

Often, some nasty surprises such as viruses, mal ware, spy ware, or unwanted pornography can be bundled up with illegal movie downloads. It is not that uncommon to have your computer destroyed by a virus or having sensitive personal information released and exploited. This is not exaggeration, particularly if you are getting your downloads from peer-to-peer (p2p) networks.

You might get a file that is little more than advertisements if you do your downloading from peer-to-peer networks. Before you can have access to the actual movie download they may require that you jump through hoops. These 'hoops' usually involve going to a huge slew of advertising promotions and giving out your email address.

The war against piracy of copyrighted material has been stepped up by the film and music industries. Anti-piracy measures such as criminal prosecution and loss of Internet access may become the norm as the Internet wild west days come to a close. A good deal of progress has been made in p2p anti-piracy enforcement in Europe.

However, in on line memberships, all downloads are 100 percent legal and guarantee security from computer viruses, spy ware and mal ware. By contrast, you may be playing a game of Russian roulette when downloading films from 'free' web sites. The 'one' file that seriously damages your computer might be that shared file that you've just downloaded or that required media player that you've never heard of.

In order to furnish movies and films for legal download by their customers, the legitimate on line download memberships are cooperating with the major studios. The hazards that accompany illegal movie downloads can be avoided and some peace of mind can be attained. Preserve the integrity of your bank account, your computer and your privacy by taking advantage of legal movie download memberships.

Need help choosing a new cell phone ?

By Mike J Orange

About the only piece of technology that now advances faster than that of computers is the cell phone but this can annoy many buyers; many buyers become dismayed at the almost non-stop stream of new models to choose from. Strangely, many buyers overlook certain important things before making their purchase; below are some facts every user should know before upgrading.

Every user will occasionally experience the race against battery life as they try to use up every ounce of power there is before recharging. If you do not want to replace your cell phone battery early then you must not continue leaving the recharge cycle until the last minute.

The back light is the second biggest power drain of any cell phone battery but this can be either turned off or use the auto back light off function if your phone is supplied with one. Actually talking on the phone uses the most power when it is being operated as it is being used as a transmitter so reduce the length of calls and turn it off if you find yourself in an area with poor reception as the cell phone battery will drain itself trying to find a signal. The more you talk, the quicker the battery will drain; this is also true for times your cell phone is connected to the Internet, downloading games or playing music for example.

Whilst downloading new ring tones and wallpaper is a great idea, many people are given free sample but forget they will be charged for the rest that are download automatically, sometimes without their knowledge. For parents buying a phone for their child, most companies will now allow them to disable this download function so only the mother or father has control over it via a password feature that the child cannot override.

Cell phone plans are generally available where you pay only when it is used or through a contract that supplies a pre-agreed amount of minutes per month. It really does depend on the type of user you are as infrequent users benefit from the 'pay per use' plans. The process for each contract will differ greatly but arranging a pay-per use contract for a regular phone user is probably not the best option to have financially speaking. Many features are specific to certain plans so you will need to think about how you intend to use the phone to have the best features you require as part of your contract.

Some plans do not include roaming charges which is something to consider if you travel a great deal as it could dramatically increase the cost. Don't forget to find out what insurance cover you have if your new phone is lost or damaged. An insurance warranty is something that brings pace of mind when the chance of damaging or losing something so small is so easily done.

You also want to make sure that the parts and accessories are easily obtained from any regular cell phone store, even if you purchase the phone from an Internet based company.

Cell Phones - Aimed At Young People

By Kay Brown

For many people, especially the young, the cellular phone has only one use and that is to impress their friends; using one to make calls is often incidental to all the other functions they now contain.

Today's advertising shows us just who most cellular phones are aimed at: specifically young people; this modern day gadget is a 'must have' part of their complete get up. With their constant improvements, the functions of modern day phones are growing faster than any other sector of technology, except maybe computing!

There is a large market in supplying ring tones and for creating ways to make your own with more convenient systems to transfer them onto your cell phone.

Audiovox cellular phones and accessories can be very functional but come in models that are lightweight and of beautiful design. It would be easy to dismiss many cell phone accessories as just for the young but many are worthwhile; for instance the power cord helps to condition the battery while it is charging, increasing its lifespan.

Other clever items such as the hip clip holder can be used with any cell phone not just those produced by Audiovox. A particularly clever device is the headset that allows you to use the cellular phone without having to hold it which is a great idea for drivers or people that need their hands free while they work. This will help to avoid accidents due to one hand driving and decreased attention on the road.

Background noise or hiss has always been a problem but the latest Audiovox devices overcome this and dispose of the wires at the same time. Having that awful hiss will be a thing of the past so speaking to someone should be a lot less stressful.

The Jabra hands free headset is one such model in the range able to do this. Discreet would be a better word to describe Jabra because it small and very light so you will hardly know it is there.

By using the multi functional antenna attached to you vehicle, the signal strength is increased and improves the connection. The best thing to do is actually ensure your Audiovox cellular phone has a matching earphone as part of the package.

If you are on the move then this is obviously going to benefit you because it much safer to drive when both hands are free to control the car. Choose your Audiovox cellular phone accessories to suit your lifestyle and you won't go far wrong.

Unlocking Your Apple Iphone

By Charlie Reese

Get Your iPhone Unlocked: Why Bother?

When Apple's iPhone was launched in 2007 with the fanfare usually reserved for visits from the Queen of England, there was a lot of appropriate flack about its flaws. One of the flaws that made even non-geeks upset was that Apple made an exclusive deal with AT&T to be iPhone's only network. Customers want choice when it comes to their internet and phone carriers. But their expensive iPhones were locked into carrying only AT&T. The solution? Get your iPhone unlocked so it can carry any network you please.

Is This Legal?

Getting your iPhone unlocked is legal, even though Apple is not too happy about it. But that's only because they would rather everyone bought electronic gadgets from Apple and nowhere else, yet that free-enterprise bugaboo keeps getting in the way. There are many legal companies online that offer free software to get your iPhone unlocked such as iPhoneSIMfree.com.

Set Yourself Free

Before you decide to get your iPhone unlocked, ask yourself if it is really worth the bother. Although the software is free, you still have to do a lot of tricky technical instructions. If you don't even know how to get your toaster to work, you will find trying to get your iPhone unlocked far more trouble than it is worth.

Wasn't the iPhone originally supposed to make our lives easier by combining all kinds of gadgets into one palm-sized device? If you are already extremely busy, having health problems related to stress or have trouble concentrating, then trying to get your iPhone unlocked just may push you over the edge.

Is it just a coincidence that there has been a rise in public shootings since the release of the iPhone? And when friends and family of the killer are interviewed, aren't they always completely baffled as to how a mild mannered loner suddenly went postal with a pistol? I think we should check the belongings of these shooters very carefully. I bet you they all had iPhones and all of them were trying to get their iPhones unlocked before what was left of their tiny little minds snapped.

The danger to America isn't with terrorists - it's with these iPhones or any other gadget that claims to make our live easier only if you have a Master's in Quantum physics. If you want to see a remarkable drop in innocent bystanders being shot, get everyone with a gun together and shoot their iPhones. We'll all be free at last.

Annoying Iphone Downloads

By Charlie Reese

Are iPhone Software Downloads More Annoying Than iPhone Users?

Granted, there are very few things in life more annoying than a diehard iPhone user. Even things like tornadoes and typhoons are more tolerable, since they are forces of nature which are impossible to avoid. But what about the senseless pain of being stuck on an hour long bus ride and hearing an iPhone user screech in delight at an endless stream of inane chatter? Perhaps the iPhone software downloads are even more annoying.

No Batteries Included

Once upon a time in the old days, when you got a phone, all you had to do was choose the phone and the Phone Company did all of the rest. No more. Although today's phones can do a lot more than just receive and make calls, with more complexity has come more responsibility. It is now the customer who has to get the phone working. And the phones do not come with everything included anymore.

One of the reasons an iPhone is so labor intensive is because it needs iPhone software downloads from Apple in order to do all the great things its advertised to do. When the iPhone was released, demands for the iPhone software downloads crashed Apple's web site (the only source of the downloads) for days. You also have to log on to Apple's website in order to unlock your iPhone to get it to do anything except be a conversation piece.

For Geeks Only

One of the problems people are having with the iPhone is the iPhone software downloads. They don't always seem to speak the same language as the phone, making it behave slowly or erratically. Although this will normally happen if you use pirated or illegal iPhone software downloads, there have been problems with the official versions, too.

Another big problem of iPhone software downloads is that they are so complicated to work. The iPhone itself is very complicated for the average consumer. So far, the only fans of iPhone are technophiles known not nicely on the Internet as "fanboys". They are used to taking an hour and pages of instructions in order to get anything done. The average person can't even be bothered to read prescription medicine instructions much less instructions for iPhone software downloads.

This makes you wonder just who the iPhone was designed for. Quite possibly for annoying iPhone users, who tend to have a large disposable income. It certainly was not made for the average person. This writer has two college degrees, and I can't even figure out the iPhone software download instructions.

Iphone Wallpaper has its Privileges

By Charlie Reese

Be Careful With iPhone Wallpaper

Any iPhone wallpapers not coming from Apple or from AT&T should be viewed with a certain amount of suspicion. On the one hand it's not fair - you pay a few hundred dollars for a phone and it doesn't come with the iPhone wallpaper you want - but this is the safest way to keep cyber criminals out of your business and your personal information. One way they can steal your personal data is through free iPhone wallpaper that hides malware (malicious software).

What Is Malware?

Malware is a very broad classification of any kind of software that negatively affects your computer, PDA or cell phone that has internet access (like an iPhone). Malware includes viruses, spyware, rootkits, Trojan horses, keyloggers and adware. Sometimes all malware does is slow your computer, PDA or iPhone down - other times it breaks into your personal data and sends information like your passwords and account numbers back to its creator.

You don't want any part of malware. And, according to Internet security experts McAfee, cyber criminals are purposefully concentrating on penetrating mobile devices like iPhones rather than computers. One of the way that malware can get onto your iPhone is for you to be tricked into downloading a free iPhone wallpaper.

Say No To Pop-Ups

Another place cyber criminals like to plant "free" iPhone wallpaper, ringtones or other goodies only to plant malware into your iPhone is with pop-up ads. These can come in a couple of ways. Usually, when you click onto a web site, your browser suddenly opens up an additional window in order to show you an ad (such as for free iPhone wallpaper). Get rid of those ads as soon as possible and DON'T click on any links they include.

Many computer security packages now come with a pop-up blocker as a standard feature. You should be able to manually turn the pop-up blocker off if you need to actually use the browser window that suddenly opens (such as to add a link in for your blog in Blogger). Those pop-up windows are not to sell stuff - you can safely use them.

In order to be sure that you are safe from any kind of malware, you need to have the latest versions of:

an anti-virus program an anti-spyware program a firewall a spam filter for your email a pop-up blocker the most recent updates of your OS (like Windows, Linux or Macintosh) the most recent updates of your music playing software

Things to Know About Unlocking an IPhone

By Charlie Reese

Things to Know About Unlocking an IPhone

When you buy an iPhone in America, you are obliged to subscribe to a two-year service plan of AT&T, you are basically deprived of the opportunity to choose another carrier, whose pricing practices would be more suitable. And as it should be obvious, Apple of course gets millions of dollars from AT&T, just for bringing new and new customers when selling a new iPhone.

Those who buy an iPhone, have to activate the phone, through AT&T, to be able to use all the applications, the media player for instance, otherwise, the phone is useless. It is thus quite natural that attempts have been made to unlock the iPhone, to connect it to different carriers and use it in Europe as well.

The First Attempts at Unlocking the IPhone

As soon as September, after its release in late June, methods and softwares were in existence as to how to unlock the iPhone. Making use of different methods, many hackers, or groups of scientists have managed to unlock the iPhone. Jon Lech Johansen, one of the first to succeed, claimed to have unlocked the iPhone as soon as July, being able to use all the applications but without having to connect to AT&T.

By the end of August, George Hotz, an American teenager was also able to unlock his iPhone, with the combination of software commands and disassembling his phone, which though voids the official warranty. Then around the same time separate teams, Uniquephones, Gizmodo and a group from iPhoneSIMfree.com, were all working on developing a software unlock for the iPhone, with considerable success.

Unlocking has become quite general since then, and a number of iPhones sold worldwide are unlocked ones. For example in Germany, there was a brief time period when iPhones were officially sold unlocked because of some legal issues that were not in accordance with the American practices.

Dangers of Unlocking the iPhone

So, iPhones can be unlocked quite easily, especially nowadays. There are innumerable offers on the internet that are advertising the safest or easiest way to unlock your iPhone. Meanwhile, Apple is obviously trying to stop this, they have a lot to lose, they are bound to AT&T to basically make the customers stay with them and they have a lot to lose moneywise as well.

So if you unlock your iPhone not using an appropriate sofware, it can happen that your iPhone is rendered useless right away, or if Apple is clever enough, it can happen that your iPhone is rendered useless with the new Apple software update that you are just to download to improve your iPhone. By all means, wait before others download the update, as otherwise you may have a shiny and trendy but quite useless object worth several hundred dollars.

Iphones for Sale Prices

By Charlie Reese

Where To Go For An Inexpensive New iPhone

The new iPhone features the most revolutionary user interface since the mouse, and this is just one of the major reasons that explain why it is so widely popular around the world. The iPhone offers an array of different features, including automatic detection of WiFi networks, support for the 802.11b and 802.11g standards, the use of quadband GSM and SIM cards to access cellular networks, EDGE support for high-speed data transfer where available and Bluetooth connectivity for short range networking with peripherals.

Of course as most people are aware, there are thousands of different retailers around the world that offer the iPhone. However, there are only certain places that offer the new iPhone at low prices. So if you are strapped for cash you are going to want to check these places out.

There are also a few tips that will help you to find the new iPhone for the cheapest price. For one, know that buying online would be a great idea, because online stores can afford to keep their prices much lower than regular retail stores because they do not have overhead and other costs.

CheapiPhone.co.uk

This is one of the leading retailers of the new iPhone at reasonable prices. They offer not only the actual iPhone but also various software and extras for the iPhone. They offer some of the lowest prices on the Internet for the iPhone and iPhone accessories, so you will definitely want to check them out.

Pure Mobile

This is another great company that you will want to consider if you are looking to get a new iPhone cheap. Other than iPhones they also offer batteries, Bluetooth car kits, Bluetooth headsets, car holders, car chargers, cases and pouches, cell phone parts, desktop chargers, extended warranties, screen protectors, wall chargers, earpieces, headsets and data cables.

Make sure whenever you are buying anything online that you take the time to ensure that the website you are buying from is secure and privacy protected because this will ensure that your personal information is safe and that no third parties will be able to hack in and have access to it.

Also remember that there is the option of buying a used iPhone and of course you will then be getting it at a discounted price. You do want to keep in mind however that it is often not worth it to buy a used iPhone, especially if you cannot be sure of its quality.

An Unlocked Iphone for Beginners

By Charlie Reese

What's The Big Deal About An Unlocked iPhone?

If you are trying to find any information about iPhones, sooner or later you will come across a term called "unlocked iPhones". This doesn't mean that iPhones have been released from their cage and are roaming the streets, attacking at will. All an unlocked iPhone means is that you are free to pick any phone network instead of the mandatory AT&T network all iPhones come with.

What's So Bad About AT&T?

Lots of people don't like AT&T for pretty much the same reasons they don't like a brand of soft drink or a certain pair of sneakers. People just are determined to have the things they want. If they have always had good service with a certain phone network, suddenly switching to AT&T for their iPhones can be quite a jolt. It's like traveling into completely alien territory.

Also, there have been a lot of complaints from the first wave of customers who bought the iPhone when it was released. They had a terrible time trying to get through to AT&T - which you need to do in order to get your fancy iPhone to work. For example, a reporter on CNet.com (a major geek hang-out on the web) had to wait about 40 hours for AT&T to activate his iPhone.

With service like this, no wonder many customers want unlocked iPhones. Because of a deal Apple made with AT&T, they can only make iPhones work for AT&T (making it "locked" into that phone network). Apple also announced that the security measures on the iPhone were rock-solid. And, if you wanted to travel to Europe, you were in big trouble.

Well, that was waving a red flag to a bull. Every geek and "Apple fanboy" in the world who could beg, borrow, steal (or BUY) an iPhone set about to hack into it. One of the main things they wanted to accomplish was an unlocked iPhone. The iPhone was released on June 29th. By mid-August, a young customer was able to make the world's first unlocked iPhone.

This Is Legal

Where there's a customer demand, there will be at least twenty companies that will cater to meeting that demand. The demand for unlocked iPhones was so great that many companies offered software to make unlocked iPhones, including iPhoneSIMfree.com. The secret to getting an unlocked iPhone is to reconfigure the SIM cared (the tiny chip that's about as big as your pinky nail). Then, you need to follow the rest of the software's instructions.

Correctly Choosing Iphone Software

By Charlie Reese

Choosing iPhone Software

The iPhone is one of the most useful and versatile devices in the world, as well as one of the most beautifully designed technology products of all time. Not only is the iPhone fantastic on its own, but there is also iPhone software available that helps users to make the most of their iPhone.

Which To Choose?

The hardest thing about iPhone software is deciding which you should get. Everyone is different after all and so you may require different iPhone software to make the most of your iPhone than the next person. The important thing is that you take the time to learn about the different software that is available to you and then choose the software that is going to help you out.

One-click iPhone unlock is one of the best types of software available for the iPhone. With this software you are able to use your iPhone with any network with a standard GSM sim card, and this enables your iPhone to be a phone, WiFi network, and iPod while you are on the road.

The iPhone development team has released a new version of this tool, and the best part of this update is that you are able to install it onto your iPhone using the cool installer applications. The process is quick and easy and then you do not have to worry about dealing with any bugs after installing the software.

Where To Buy

Once you have decided which particular iPhone software you are interested in purchasing, you will need to know where you can actually go to purchase it. Generally you will be able to find at least a remotely decent selection of software at your local iPhone retailer, but if not then there are various specialty stores available that will cater to your needs here.

Remember that you can even find iPhone software for free if you look in the right places, but just make sure that you stick to familiar names and do not start downloading random software because this is risky and you could end up with a virus on your iPhones as a result of your downloads. Before you install or download anything onto your iPhone make sure that you have it protected and that you are aware of the specific software you are installing.

The iPhone is a terrific device, and why not make the most of it with software. Just make sure that you choose the right software, and that you get it for the right price.

The Right Iphone Ringtones

What You Need To Know About iPhone Ringtones

Once upon a time, when a phone rang, all it did was ring. Now, with the advent of ringones for cell phones, they bark, moo, sing, boom, or start up your favorite song. Sometimes they even ring. One time I was riding the bus and heard a series of obscenities across the aisle. I turned to look and saw someone taking his phone out of his pocket and the obscenities immediately stopped. This is no different for iPhone ringtones.

Choose A Proper Ring, Please

The problem with using anything other than a buzz, beep or ring for your iPhone ringtone is that you might not realize that your phone is ringing. This kind of defeats the purpose of having a portable phone in the first place. Although the latest generation has been raised with the idea of any conceivable noise on the planet being used for iPhone ringtones, those of us born as late as 1989 just can't wrap our tiny little minds around the concept.

If you were born before 1990, do yourself and the rest of the planet a favor by choosing iPhone ringtones that actually sound somewhat like a phone ringing - either that or a ringtone of a person saying, "Dude, pick up your phone" (which does exist). Quite frankly, an iPhone ringtone should be an alarm. Do you really plan on waiting for it to play out the entire rendition of "Baby Got Back" before you pick up?

What Cell Phones Do You Need?

Contrary to what Apple would like you to believe, you don't need to have an iPhone to have iPhone ringtones on your phone. Techno-geeks like to call this "pimping" or "tricking up" your phone. However, keep in mind that an iPhone ringtone costs at least $2 (US) to download (which is still cheaper than the cost of an actual iPhone).

You also are not stuck with the official selection of iPhone ringtones on Apple's website. If you are willing to do a little online research and follow a bunch of instructions, then you can adapt your iPhone into taking just about any ringtone made for any phone on the planet.

iTunes

The usual way of getting iPhone ringtones is to buy an iPhone and then go to Apple's iTunes web site (where mP3 files for the infamous iPod devices are sold). This has the latest and greatest official selection of iPhone ringtones for you to choose from.

Getting the total Iphone Reviews Package

The Total Package: Apple IPhone Reviews

This iPhone review will covers all aspects related to the phone. This phone is called a smart phone and for good reason. It's like the epitome of 21st century technology. It's literally like a miniature computer. People think the new Macbook Air is so cool because it's thin like an envelope, well, the iPhone is the same thing but it can fit in your pocket.

IPhone Display Review

Let's start with a review of the iPhone's design. The phone has an extremely sharp and slick look. It has a trim profile and it doesn't have a million buttons because of the touch-screen. It's 4.5 inches tall by 2.4 inches wide and it's a mere 0.46 inches deep. It can comfortably fit in your pocket and you won't even feel it.

IPhone Review of Display & Menus

The display definitely takes full advantage of the phone's large screen. The screen's resolution is 480x320 pixels and the graphics look vivid and sharp and have great movement. The iPhone menu is a great one because it follows the true Apple style.

The interface looks high-tech but it is easy to understand. The main menu uses colored buttons to represent the main functions of the phone. Icons for the phone menu, mail folder, Safari Web Browser, and the iPod player sit at the bottom of the screen for instant access. The camera, calendar, and settings are at the top.

IPhone Fun Feature Review

The iPhone has a built in wireless internet connection. Now, laptops have wireless internet but you need to have a network somewhere around you for it to work. Not with this! You can literally be driving in the middle of no where and have an internet connection because it is built in the phone. That's amazing technology. You can be waiting at the doctor's office and surf the net to kill some time.

Perhaps the best part about the iPhone is the Google maps option. If you're lost, you can type in the address that you're going to or the name of the business and it will give you directions. It is not a GPS system that locates where you are but it does tell you where you need to go.

This iPhone review gives the iPhone an A+. The iPhone is slick and easy to use. It even has touch-screen technology. Plus, they're constantly coming up with add-ons to make it just a little bit better. It's expensive, but it's worth it.

A Brief Guide To Second Generation Iphones

A Brief Guide To Second Generation Iphones

Soon after the release of Apple's iPhone in 2007 June, rumors have been around about a second generation iPhone, predicting a similar excitement that can be seen with the launching of the first version of iPhone. Apple has of course remained and still remains highly secretive about the matter, thus a lot of conjectures have surfaced regarding the new, second generation iPhone.

Some Guesses About The Specifications Of The Second Generation Iphone

In the beginning, perhaps even before the actual release of the iPhone, many have assumed that Apple will eventually release a smaller, simpler version of the iPhone, like iPhone Nano that will assumably cost less. Research has shown that many American users are not ready to invest much more than one hundred dollars on a phone and thus iPhones will not be as popular. However, iPhone has in the end proved to be sought-after as well. Moreover, a smaller version of iPhone, presumably without the touchscreen for example, that is quite an endearing feature in iPhones, cannot be so special and attractive for the buyers.

It is now clear that second generation iPhones will be 3G iPhones that utilize a 3G network, as opposed to the 2.5G network, EDGE (Enhanced Data Rates for GSM Evolution) supported by the first version of iPhones. This new 3G network is declared to support 400 Kbit/sec to 700 Kbit/sec download speeds which is obviously much more readily useable with ease and enjoyment than the original iPhones with reported download speeds sometimes not even exceeding 100 Kbit/sec.

Some have also presumed that second generation iPhones will have a second camera in the front and will be suitable for videoconferencing for example. As evidenced by leaked footage (though of questionable source), these 3G iPhones might have a glossy black back, replacing the original look. Some users, having seen the screen and resolution of other smartphones, that are in some cases twice the resolution of the first version iPhones, have commented on the need for improvement in this area. However, Apple is presumably not set on changing this feature in the new iPhones. As to the price, current, first version prices will assumably drop, and it is expected by some that second generation iPhones will cost somewhere around $499, for the 16GB model.

When Is It To Be Released?

Many rumors have surfaced so far about the release date of the second generation iPhones. Some have assumed that it will be as soon as the Christmas of 2007, then new release dates have been set for March or April 2008. Currently, some are expecting the release date to be as late as Christmas 2008 (which will by the way be quite suitable for Apple because of the high demand in the holiday season) or even the first months of 2009. As for now, April 2008, however, it has been assumed by Walt Mossberg, who is a relatively reliable source, that the second generation iPhones will be out by 2008 June.
