Movie Download Memberships: Worth the Money?

By Marc Sandford

We've got a lot more options for getting our movies rather than driving to the local video rental store thanks to the phenomenal growth of the Internet and the advances of technology. On the Internet, we can make our movie selection and then wait for the video to arrive by mail. However, we can simply skip the mail delivery and watch the movie immediately online.

There are two basic approaches to doing this. We can get the movie without paying for it by whatever means or pay a fee and use a movie download site. This article will compare the online download memberships, offline video stores, and the 'free' online alternatives against each other.

Movie download memberships have the advantage of big archives full of movie titles to choose from. How much or how often you download movies from these large archives is strictly up to you. No offline video store will ever be able to match this because they have a limited amount of physical space.

Because of this they have to go with only the popular movies. Online download memberships can accommodate a broader variety of movie genres because they don't suffer from this type of restriction. You will get more satisfaction by going online if your tastes go beyond what is deemed popular by everyone else.

Doing a physical search through the shelves of an offline store is far more difficult than looking for a particular title online. An online site will usually have a search box that can search by the director, actor, title, or any particular keyword. In addition, lists are provided that categorize movies into different genres.

In addition to movie genre, their lists often group movies by critic picks, latest additions, popularity, and alphabetically. You can even write your own review and rate a movie with some memberships. Consumer reviews can be more trustworthy than those of a professional critic.

A large selection of movies in their archives is typical of online memberships. Any movies that are legal and free are almost always public domain which means that they are no longer copyrighted. These are the golden oldie film classics.

Recent episodes of popular TV series are available for viewing on the web sites of the major television networks. These will only be up for viewing for a brief time and will be limited to just a few series.

Download membership sites offer safety from viruses, worms, spy ware and mal ware. However, you're playing a game of Russian roulette when downloading movies from 'free' sites. You never know what sort of virus or spy ware might have been introduced into your file by someone else if you're using a file sharing network for your downloads.

In short, these are a few of the reasons why paid movie memberships are the best choice for getting your movie entertainment. The benefits of speed, economy, and convenience that the Internet provides over video rental stores are obvious. However, the potential risks that 'free' downloads pose to your computer greatly overshadow any of the inconveniences of the local video store.

The Start of the Pioneering Disney Studios

By Steve Collins

The Walt Disney Company was founded in 1923 by brothers Walt and Roy Disney in Los Angeles. The Disney brothers started by creating a series of live-action/animated short films collectively named The Alice Comedies. Within four months of the first screenings, the brothers were urged to relocate to larger facilities, dubbed "Disney Bros. Studio." According their official website, in 1925 the Disney brothers made a deposit on a lot on Hyperion Avenue in the Silver Lake district of Los Angeles. This lot would house the Disney Studio for the next 14 years, seeing the beginning of such beloved characters as Mickey Mouse, Pluto, Goofy, and Donald Duck.

In fact, it was Walt Disney's wife Lillian Marie Disney who gave Mickey Mouse his name. Her husband wanted to name his new character Mortimer Mouse. She claimed this suggestion was one of her prouder moments. Representative of Mickey's victory and popularity was the rewarding of a special Academy Award for "Mickey Mouse" in 1932. Mickey was colorized in 1935 and soon his friends were drawn in their own individual series. Donald Duck and Pluto would all get their own series in 1937, while Goofy would get a solo series in 1939. Again, according to the Disney website, of all of Mickey's friends, only Donald Duck would rival the beloved mouse's popularity. The two characters shared the screen first in 1934, in a cartoon called Orphan's Benefit.

The cartoon shorts would make way in 1937 for the innovative full-length animated feature, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Snow White was met with unique acclaim and success, shoring up Disney's brilliance. This world-wide regard prompted Disney to secure 51 acres of property in Burbank and break ground on an entirely new studio devoted to making animated films.

Walt Disney was personally involved with designing the new studio, right down to the smallest details. From the layout of the buildings to the design of the animators' chairs, nothing missed his keen eye. His goal was creating a self-sufficient, state-of-the-art production facility that could oversee all the sides of animation, from start to finish. He also had separate buildings dedicated to each facet of animation, including Inking and Painting and the Camera building where the artwork was completed and photographed. All of the post-production work was completed in the Cutting building. These buildings were connected together by an complex system of underground tunnels so nothing could disrupt production, including bad weather. To preserve a campus feel, Disney had all the utilities sunk underground to prevent any unsightly views.

It was from this innovative studio in Burbank that Disney would bring many of its favorite family films, including Fantasia, Bambi, Cinderella, Alice In Wonderland, and Peter Pan

By Bobby Roberts

Of all the American inventions reviews about the Apple iPhone has been seen as a much hyped product of all. Although it has made Apple a tremendous amount of money it has also been suggested as one of the most reviled creation in the American history. Compared with Edsel. New Coke. Apple Ipod? Coke (which tasted just like Pepsi) Edsel (named after a draft-dodging member of the Ford family). People are apparently curious about the Apple iPhone it would appear.

Rating it with other with phones

One of the most popular viral videos since the iPhone's much-hyped 2007 release is that of a blender seller sticking in an iPhone and turning on the machine. This was to show off the strength of the blender, but also seemed to be a more than cutting Apple iPhone review by the blender seller. The fact that the video went viral and became so popular (more so than the blender it sells, the Blendtec) means that many others seemed to agree with this particular Apple iPhone review.

Sorry, Steve Jobs

Although you could go to a high tech website such as CNet.com to read geek's Apple iPhone reviews, they sometimes are a bit difficult to understand with all of the jargon and techno-babble. If you want to know what an iPhone is like, you need to read Apple iPhone reviews written by the average person. You can find them practically anywhere online by just typing "Apple iPhone review" into your favorite search engine.

It begins, "Sorry, Steve Jobs, but I hate your effing iPhone" Although I can't reproduce any more of the review here. Perhaps not exactly Pulitzer Prize winning material It does give you all the clues about how good a device an iPhone is. The review can be found on Helium.com written by Cara Volle.

The iPhone device has been reported to disturbingly get actually very hot when in use. But most of the complaints about the iPhone come from its choice of AT&T as network carrier. The picture superiority of its camera is said to be poor and streamlining video still has a lot of bugs to iron out. Computer security experts have also found ways to hack into an iPhone - which means if they can do it, so can cyber criminals.

Whenever a new techie toy appears, there are bound to be bugs that only customers can find. You need to wait for at least a year after their release for these bugs to be resolved somehow.

The Different Uses Of Commercial Vehicle Tracking

By Hispanic

You may have seen it on television or in films --- technology so advanced it can track down automobiles on almost any location. But vehicle tracking is more than just about putting carnappers and other criminals behind bars. This mode of tracking device is also used in other ways such as in businesses processes and security.

A prime example is the shipping industry, considered a pioneer in utilizing a commercial vehicle tracking system. Commercial vehicle tracking locates and collects accurate data. It spot-checks the location of a certain vehicle for commercial or business purposes.

This industry has now expanded through the years. There are now smaller-scale industries related to commercial vehicle tracking devices. Today, various corporations use this system as this is both time and cost-efficient.

An example of this modern-day commercial vehicle tracking application is the dispatching of freight vans and other delivery vehicles. This is done by installing a transmitter on a particular freight van. Through this, an operator can accurately check the activity of the freight van as it makes its delivery within the area. All stops, detours, drop-offs are displayed on the computer monitor or in another remote hardware device.

Some companies even offer other features packaged with their tracking services. Some examples are printable reports (speed reports, idling reports, Journey reports,), detailed location mapping, route finding, among others.

Companies involved in commercial vehicle tracking services also offers other services and packages such as printable reports like speed reports, idling reports, and journey reports, detailed location mapping, route finding among others. Field sales and trailer tracking are other commercial uses of vehicle tracking. For instance, in field sales, vehicle tracking is used to retrieve driving directions and planning last-minute itineraries.

Apple iPhone and its history

By Bobby Roberts

The new Apple iPhone when finally released in 2007 had a strong audience as it offered a great looking apparatus with an pioneering and novel product, combining the technology of iPods, a innovative mobile phone. The Apple iPhone boasted a mobile with a handy internet gadget. Even before the trendy Apple iPhone was released the fans were speculating about the outlook of the new iPhone.

The Beginnings

The visible or at least documented history of the Apple iPhone starts with the instruction of Steve Jobbs, CEO of Apple for engineers to start researching touch screens, at that time, most probably still having the development of Apple tablet PCs in mind. However, already in April 2003, he declared in a conference that the development of traditional PDAs or tablet PCs was not the way ahead for Apple.

The emergence of the new product, Apple iPhone was announced in January, new innovations perhaps lie in the realm of cell phones, and thus, technologies, connected to them should be improved upon. The appearance of the new product, Apple iPhone was announced in January 2007 at the MacWorld Expo with a release date for 2007 June. Users will be able to access Web application on the internet apple declared in a conference in June 2007.

Release and Further Developments

Hundreds of people lined up outside the shops on June 29 2007 when finally Apple iPhones went on sale in the United States so that they could be the first to own the new Apple iPhone. When it was initially released there were only two variations of the iPhone. First with a flash drive of 4GB and second with a flash drive of 8GB with price a range from $499 -$599. The 4Gb iPhone was finally discontinued when the 8GB was the preferred choice of the buyer.

Moreover, as a further development, the price is radically reduced by $200 as soon as September, for which Apple was quite widely attacked as this pricing and the sudden drop is believed to be unfair. The popularity of the Apple iPhone in the beginnings is by no means as great as expected.

For example, the sales for the first weekend were initially estimated to be somewhere between 200,000 and 700,000 products. But just roughly 145,000 activations were registered for the first weekend.

Moreover, the applications of Apple iPhone were originally only available to those who make a two-year subscription with AT&T, with offers that do not pay off for everyone. There was also wide media coverage of a 300-page bill, after which AT&T makes a change in its billing practices.

In Europe the Apple iPhone was launched at the end of 2007, United Kingdom, France, Germany all presented the iPhone with problems and difficulties as it only offered its customers the Apple iPhone through the one supplier.

Reasons not to buy an iPhone

By Bobby Roberts

So, you haven't yet bought an iPhone since its original release quite a time ago. Should you buy one now, or should you wait for something even better, as obviously, even this extraordinary gadget has its flaws. Here, I will present some reasons for buying and a few for not buying this really trendy phone.

Why Shouldn't You Buy An Iphone?

Of course, an almost infinite list can quite easily be compiled of reasons for not buying an iPhone, as it has a lot of flaws and disadvantages, like any electronic device, for that matter. Just look anywhere on the internet and you will be reading the sixty-seven reasons not to buy an iPhone or the twenty-four problems with iPhones, but I will simply summarize the major drawbacks.

There are no other options offered to you in the United States other then to subscribe to a two year contract and a service plan with AT&T, which also comes with its own price tag. This may not be agreeable to you. If you happen to take the phone outside the United States you may be faced with problems when you have to unlock the iPhone.

You will not be able to view some sites as iPhones do not support flash. Although web-browsing is acceptable using Applel's safari. It only supports safari and if your first choice is another browser you will not be able to use it. Your web browsing can be really slow at times, as the only network supported by an iPhone is a 2.5G EDGE network.

Apple really spoils its image and positions within the entrepreneurial sector, as Apple iPhone doesn't yet totally support any other applications. It may be possible to install some third party applications by hacking you iPhone. But there's a real lack of variety of applications available to the user

The iPhone is a really awesome, useful and smart device. The first owners subsequent to owning an iPhone have affirmed that they wouldn't even need a laptop after using Apple iPhone. Which they can use to listen to music, watch videos or movies, get information easily any time of the day and use it as a phone.

Officially you are not allowed to use other third party application on the iPhone or use it with other service providers. It if fairly to simple to ignore this, and install many other applications by hacking and connect to other carriers by unblocking your Apple iPhone.

Ultimately, an iPhone looks truly hip and cool, you can show off to your friends who don't owning an iPhone drool over yours for hours on an end. You will access any information you want any time. Moreover, with the expected release of the iPhone 3G, prices are bound to drop even more. Buy an iPhone if you don't come across any key fault with it, as soon as prices drop adequately.
