Wendy Wu Is The Best Action Hero To Come Along In A Long Time!

By Steve Collins

From Bruce Lee to Jackie Chan to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, audiences have had a love affair with martial arts adventure for just about a half-century. Only a little while ago, another high-kicking champion burst out of the shopping mall and into movie-goers' imagination-Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior.

This Disney Channel Original Movie features Brenda Song. Numerous viewers know her from her role in The Suite Life With Zack and Cody as the wealthy, spoiled character, London Tipton. Her character, Wendy Wu, established her as one of Disney's most engaging stars.

Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior tells the adventures of Wendy Wu, a normal American teenager, whose biggest goal is to be voted her high school's Homecoming Queen. Her life gets really interesting after a Chinese monk tells Wendy that she is the incarnation of a legendary female warrior. Better yet, she has to shield the world from an evil spirit. At the start, Wendy does not believe it, and since she and most of her family have lost touch with their Chinese inheritance, she is more interested in shopping and fashion than rescuing the world from a malevolent spirit. When people around her are possessed by the evil Yan-Lo, Wendy has to knuckle down, unleash her inner martial artist, and still figure out a way to be the Homecoming Queen.

Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior tells an action-packed story that audiences have eagerly embraced. When it first aired in August of 2007, it was the highest-rated and most-watched program for kids between the age of six and fourteen. It continues to be the fifth highest Disney Original movie ever, and is the highest movie in the history of Disney Channel in Japan.

With an interesting plot, charming star, and proven record of excellence, audiences are looking forward to the approaching installment, and they will not have to wait for long. Wendy Wu's next adventure is just around the corner!
